Israel Up Close
Discover Israel through art, culture, and conversation
April 14, 21, 28 and May 5, 12
6:30 - 8pm

Israel Up Close is a five-part series exploring voices, images, and stories from Israel’s first eight decades. Through literature, visual art, and cultural discussion, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Israeli life and society. The series will be led by Dr. Lesley Litman, an experienced Jewish educator who has held leadership roles across North America, including serving as the founding director of the Executive MA Program in Jewish Education at HUC-JIR. Lesley lived in Israel for ten years and was a founder of Kibbutz Yahel. She is also a proud member of the Worcester JCC community.

About Dr. Lesley Litman:

Lesley Litman Ed.D. has served in leadership positions in a wide variety of Jewish educational settings throughout North America including founding director of HUC-JIR’s Executive MA program in Jewish Education, congregational education, day schools, youth movement and the URJ. She is the Project Manager of ARZA’s Canada’s Navigating Shared Space Israel curriculum and consults to other major Jewish educational organizations in North America about Israel education, including the Foundation for Jewish Camp and Prizmah (Jewish day schools). She is a faculty member of the HUC-JIR School of Education. She served as a consultant to The iCenter in curriculum design and professional development in Israel education and as a faculty member of the Conflicts of Interest certificate program. Lesley lived in Israel for ten years and was a founder of Kibbutz Yahel. Lesley holds an Ed.D. from JTS, an MA in Jewish Studies with a Hebrew concentration from Hebrew College and a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was a Mandel Jerusalem Fellow from 1994-96. Lesley is a proud member of the Worcester JCC.
