About the Artist Leading the Workshop - Mary Willette

Mary Willette is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of sculpture, performance, and participatory practice. Drawing on the complexities of human relationships, her work uses the body—breath, tongues, bones, and skin—as both material and metaphor to create performative and sculptural forms that explore embodiment, presence, and connection beyond verbal language.

Willette earned her MFA from the University of Michigan and her BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design. She is also an experienced educator, teaching process-based, accessible art programs in a wide range of community and academic settings. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and The Boiler | Pierogi in Brooklyn. She lives and works in Worcester, Massachusetts.
